Tear It Up!

Hello Monday, my friends! I hope you have had a delightful week and enjoyed some crafting time. We have a new challenge for you this week - TEAR IT UP! Add something a bit torn to your creation.

I headed to my art journal for this week's challenge. I hadn't worked in it for awhile, and I had so much fun!

I was playing with lots of number images, and knew I wanted to incorporate a number theme, but it wasn't until working on it the following day that the aha moment arrived! We recently had our elections, and after voting I got a sticker celebrating 100 years of women having the right to vote in our country. (I know not all women had the right 100 years ago, but it was the beginning of the movement.) One of the woman who led the movement was Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who grew up in a neighboring town. You can read more about her HERE

I went to the watercolor papers in Dina Wakley's Media Journal to start layering color.

Time to start tearing it up with some strips of vintage paper, which I adhered with collage medium.

Now, the fun begins! Next layer with stencils...

Then, I started in on the stamping, adding a row of numbers across the page, using some different images.

Time to tear it up some more and add  strips of Media Tape.

I really meant to leave more white space as I worked, so instead, I went back in with some white paint that I made more transparent with the glazing medium, and toned it down.

Why not go in now and add some scribble circles!

I decided to tone down this page also, and did some bubble stamping with white.

...and I also stamped my images on card stock and cut them out so they would "pop".

Time to tear it up! I ripped my top page in half...

...and tipped in the other half between my full page spread.

Next, I stamped 100, outlined it in white, and wrote VOTE repeatedly across one circle, and same step inside with the YEARS.

I stenciled several women's silhouettes with white paint (to represent the first women in the Suffrage Movement), then stamped the Strong Women stamps on top of them - another generation. Finally, I cut some modern women out of a catalog (Gudren Sjoden), and adhered them on top. My idea was to build layers of generations of women over the 100 years. What do you think?

100 Years of Women's Vote, and we are still "tearing it up" in the elections!
I just had to add that, LOL!

Are you ready to tear it up with us this week? I hope you are inspired to join us in this week's challenge!
